It's not just about running courses here at the Academy - we also offer Coaching, Mentoring and Shadowing across the partner organisations.

Coaching - Do you need some direction in your career? Do you feel you have more to offer but are not sure how best to progress? Then coaching through the Academy could be the answer.

Being guided by a coach who is not your direct line manager can provide valuable insights and open up your horizons. We have negotiated with West Midlands Councils and can offer you free coaching sessions with an executive coach (qualified to ILM level 7). Coaching is an increasingly popular tool for supporting personal development and can help you improve your performance, reach your potential and consequently improve the effectiveness of your organisation.

Getting yourself a coach couldn't be easier. Its available to everyone within the Academy (with approval from your line manager) and is a free service go to http://www.wmleadersboard.gov.uk/coachingpool to book yourself a coach.

Shadowing and Mentoring – have you ever wondered what it would be like to do someone else's job? The Academy has launched a scheme that brings you new opportunities to learn with, about and from colleagues within the Academy partnership.

The Academy also has a mentoring scheme running alongside the shadowing opportunities. As a mentee you will be able to change/achieve your goals more quickly and effectively than working alone. Building a network of expertise to draw on can benefit both yourself and others.

Being a mentor is voluntary but extremely rewarding and can benefit your own skills development and career progression. You need to be the sort of person who wants others to succeed and have, or can develop, the skills needed to support them.
